Amy Blanchard-Keyboards

Amy's musical journey started with the clarinet at the age of 10. She sharpened her chops in middle school winning the Solo & Ensemble awards. She studied and played the bassoon for her junior high's concert band and went on to march in high school with her clarinet. At the age of 12, Santa Claus dropped off a keyboard, but trying to get proficient on sax, flute, french horn, trumpet, bassoon and clarinet didn't leave much time for tinkering on the keys. After high school, she gave music a rest so she could focus on college and career. A few years later, she stumbled across that dusty old keyboard and began to tinker again. She heard that a local favorite, "Bottom's Up", was in town and looking for a keyboard player. She went to the show and thought to give it "the old college try". Not knowing much more than how to turn it on, she knew it was time for "Keyboard Boot Camp". After a short stay with the band she was invited to play with the "Gashouse Gorillaz". Still green on keys, she headed for another tour through "Keyboard Boot Camp", learning 43 songs in 3 weeks. She enjoyed playing a wide variety of musical styles and learned yet another instrument, the guitar. Being a south-paw, the challenges of playing a right handed guitar sent her back to "Boot Camp" for a third time. She was now armed to the teeth and ready for war. And now you know the rest of the story.
